Annual Reception Drinks 2025

On 16 September 2025, the Westminster Africa Business Group (WABG) was proud to host its Annual Drinks Reception in the House of Commons, in what was our biggest and most successful gathering yet.

The reception brought together Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Trade Envoys and business leaders from across Africa and the United Kingdom. It was an evening full of energy, good conversation and genuine connection, set against the backdrop of one of the most important institutions in British public life.

We were especially honoured to hear from John Humphrey, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Africa, whose speech captured the spirit of partnership and underlined the importance of strengthening business and diplomatic ties across the continent.

Having the chance for our members and guests to talk face-to-face in such a setting helps build trust and understanding, and strengthens the personal relationships that support real partnerships between Africa and the United Kingdom. Guests enjoyed wine, canapés and lively discussion throughout the evening, and the warm atmosphere made the occasion one to remember.

We look forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new friends to our future events as we continue to grow this unique network.
