    Chair

    Sir Gavin Williamson CBE is a British Member of Parliament and former Cabinet Minister, having served as Secretary of State for Defence and Education. With extensive experience in government, business, and international relations, he brings valuable insight into policymaking, trade, and global engagement, supporting the Westminster Africa Business Group’s mission to strengthen UK–Africa partnerships.

    Gemma Holding

    Vice Chair

    Gemma is the Chief Executive of Article 25, the UK’s leading humanitarian architecture NGO, which delivers transformative construction projects across Africa and beyond. Most recently, the organisation has worked in Niger, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Morocco, and Uganda, creating schools, hospitals, and vital infrastructure that strengthen communities. A passionate advocate for Africa throughout her career, Gemma has served as Vice Chairman of the Group for over a decade.

    Pete Osborne

    Vice Chair

    Pete is a Founder of Appold, the blockchain technology and advisory company. Prior to his involvement in the blockchain industry, Pete has over 20 years of financial markets experience within stock exchange groups and investment banks. He brings expertise in capital markets, blockchain innovation, and supporting Africa’s continually growing technology landscape.

    John Gibson

    Group Treasurer

    John has extensive experience in the electronics industry, progressing from engineering to senior leadership roles including Vice President and Managing Director. He has worked across Africa and the Middle East for many years and, for the past decade, has run his own export company, building strong commercial links in these regions.

    Harry Burns

    Vice Chair

    Harry is the founder of Lightfoot advisors, a reputation management company. Lightfoot represents African governments seeking to attract investment and manage their global profile, and businesses operating across the continent. Before becoming a consultant, Harry spent 10 years working for the U.K. Labour Party, finishing as Head of Elections for the 2017 General Election.

    Ed Harkins

    Vice Chair

    Ed is a Managing Director at GKB Ventures and has over 26 years of experience working in structured export finance in Africa. He began his career as a solicitor for Simons & Simons before moving to Barclays Capital and led emerging markets transactions in Africa.
    He is a Director and Trade and Export Finance Ambassador for the South African Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the board of the UK Africa Infrastructure Board and is a member of the South Africa APPG.
